Project Description

Chambers Russell Lawyers (CRL) is a commercial law firm with key practice areas in commercial, construction, insurance, litigation, and strata and community title law.

Five years after having successfully completed modifications to CRL’s half floor tenancy within the prestigious MLC Centre, Jensen Projects was once again engaged to design and construct CRL’s new tenancy which occupies the full floor plate of level 15 of the MLC Centre.

Now occupying a full floor tenancy, it was essential that the front of house experience reflected CRL’s capabilities, culture and prestigious nature. Natural materials, warm tones, mood lighting and a bespoke off form feature reception desk, set the tone upon entry.

A carefully structured three stage program was required to complete this project. While staff worked from home over a two week period, Jensen rapidly repurposed the former office space for new tenants whilst concurrently reconfiguring the back of house and lift lobby of level 15.

By obtaining an interim OC, CRL were able to occupy and operate in the back of house area whilst front of house construction was being undertaken.

Key Challenges
  • Careful planning, staging and concurrent fitout of two tenancies required increased attention to the coordination of deliveries and scheduling of works.
  • Large floor levelling scope which required a specialty compound and structural engineering consultancy.
  • Minimising noise during operating hours due to day-to-day operations happening in the other half of the tenancy.
